Amidst the hustle and bustle of the season, I took a moment to step outside and embrace the beauty of nature. 🌲❄️ The snow was knee-deep, and I didn’t have my snowshoes, but it was a magical experience. Walking through the woods in my red dress, I felt the crisp air and the serene morning scenery rejuvenate my soul. The snow turned everything into a frosted fairyland, making it a truly enchanting escape. Sometimes, we need to get outside to clear our minds, and the reward is warming up with a hot sauna. 🔥❤️

Stops Along the Way: Au Train: Discover the serene beauty of Au Train, where we rented canoes to paddle the scenic Au Train River. We camped at the Au Train Lake State Forest Campground, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and clear waters of the lake. Our adventure included trying to find the elusive face in the rock and exploring the picturesque Scott Falls, capturing stunning photos of the cascading waters surrounded by lush greenery. Munising and Pictured Rocks: Experience the dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant colors of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We hiked to Miner’s Castle for breathtaking views and embarked on a memorable hike to Miner’s Falls, where we marveled at the powerful waterfall. We also visited the enchanting Munising Falls, enjoying the tranquil beauty of the area. Tahquamenon Falls: Marvel at one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. We were able to get a site at the Rivermouth Campground on the beautiful river. We explored both the Upper and Lower Falls, taking in the powerful rush of water. Our journey included a visit to the Shipwreck Museum grounds, where we viewed the monument to the Edmund Fitzgerald and saw some piping plovers on the Seney National Wildlife Refuge trail. Crisp Point Lighthouse: Visit this remote and picturesque lighthouse on the shores of Lake Superior. We learned about its history and the efforts to preserve this coastal treasure. The journey to Crisp Point was an adventure in itself, navigating winding dirt roads and enjoying the solitude of the untouched wilderness. Once there, we took in the stunning views of Lake Superior and the rugged coastline. Two Hearted River: Explore the natural beauty and tranquility of the Two Hearted River, a bucket list destination for me. The serene beauty of the river and the dense forest inspired us to slow down and appreciate the simple joys of nature. Kitch-iti-kipi: Dive into the crystal-clear waters of Michigan's largest natural freshwater spring. We took a ride on the self-operated raft to view the fascinating underwater features and fish. The spring’s turquoise waters and unique viewing platform provided an unforgettable experience, and we learned about its geological significance and history. Bay de Noc: Discover the scenic beauty and recreational opportunities of Bay de Noc. While we were fishing, we took a trip out to Peninsula Point Lighthouse, home of the monarch migration. We explored the area and enjoyed the stunning views from the lighthouse. Our adventure also included finding fossils, adding a unique and educational experience to our trip. 🌲✨ For Challenge 3 of the Fjällräven Polar 2025, we were asked how we make nature our neighbor and how we inspire others to enjoy it as well. For me, nature is everyone's neighbor, but the real challenge is learning how to be good neighbors to nature. I've always taught my children to love and respect the natural world. We spend countless hours exploring the outdoors, learning about plants and animals, and understanding the importance of conservation. 🌿 I also founded a group called Mother Trekkers, where I organized hikes and camping trips for parents and children.
