The Easiest Camping Pancakes

Looking for the perfect camping pancakes that just need water?


My family and I LOVE pancakes and I can get pretty fancy with different variations, but sometimes like when you are camping you just need quick and easy. Here’s a simple recipe for a quick and easy camping pancake mix that only requires water to prepare:

Camping Pancake Mix Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup dry milk powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup freeze dried blueberries (optional)

Instructions:

  1. At home, combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Transfer the mix into a zip-top bag or an airtight container.
  3. Label the bag or container with the date and contents.
  4. When you’re ready to make pancakes at the campsite, add water to the mix in increments, stirring or gently shaking until you reach your desired consistency. For every 1 cup of pancake mix, start with 3/4 cup of water and adjust as needed.
  5. Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over your camp stove or fire or do like I do and use a well-seasoned cast iron pan (You may need oil or butter depending on how well-seasoned your is.)
  6. Pour batter onto the hot surface to form pancakes of your preferred size.
  7. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, then flip and cook until golden brown.

To Serve:

Enjoy your pancakes with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, honey, fresh fruits, or generous slabs of butter like I do.. after all it’s camping and calories dont count 😉


This mix is designed to be convenient and easy to use while camping, ensuring you have a delicious breakfast to start your day in nature.

Of course you can add quick oats, protein powder, and more for added heartiness and adjust liquid level accordingly.
